This multi-level cypress plank lodge specializes in fresh fish, such as
fried catfish and a casserole of sauteed shrimp and mushrooms in a
white wine sauce, topped with a blend of cheeses and baked. Steak and
chicken are traditional favorites. Try the bread pudding or peanut
butter pie for dessert. Huge windows look out over the Black Warrior
River; there's also an outside deck with an old wooden covering where

Ten minutes from downtown, the big barn-like structure that used to
house a dry goods store is now perhaps the most adventurous dining
establishment in the state. Named after Shakespeare's first theater,
the restaurant decor features a long English tavern-style bar and giant
line drawings of famous scenes from Shakespeare's plays. The
international menu favorites are pan sauteed orange roughy, tandoori
chicken, stuffed pasta shells, vegetarian quesadillas, wild mushroom
and sage pizzas, and broiled tilapia.
