Incorporated in 1819, Tuscaloosa was the state capitol from 1826 to 1846. Attractions include the University of Alabama, Gorgas House, Battle-Friedman House, Capitol Park, the North River historical area, the national headquarters of the Gulf States Paper Corp, and many annual activities such as the Kentuck Festival and City-Fest.
