House on Cherry Street

Jacksonville, Florida
This Colonial-style home was built in 1912 and moved to its present location in 1919. The screened back porch overlooks the St Johns River. During WWII, the Navy leased the residence and converted it into four apartments to house military personnel. Converted back to a private residence in 1975, the original floor plan was re-established.

The house is decorated with period antiques, oriental rugs, tall case clock, a large decoy collection, baskets, pewter and collectibles. Each of four guest rooms have a canopied queen bed with woven coverlet, fresh flowers, a sitting area with color TV, and private bath. One of the guest rooms is a suite for 4 with a shared bath. The house is air-conditioned for your all-season comfort.

Elegant breakfasts are our specialty, with entrees such as eggs benedict, baked eggs and crepes, all with fresh juice and fruit (in season) and breads. Wine and hors d'oeures are served in the evening.

Nearby attractions include the Avondale Village and Jacksonville Landing shops and restaurants, Lampost Antiques, Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, and the Jacksonville Museum of Science and History. Take a self-guided tour of the historic area (bicycles are provided free) or canoe the scenic St Johns River (advance notice required). Tennis courts, golf course and beaches are close by.
