Walk into Florida's past...
Towering trees, wide-sweeping grasslands and crystal-clear waters- this
is the Florida of long ago. Artifacts, reproductions, hands-on
materials and graphics at the Museum of Florida History interpret
Florida's colorful past from the Pleistocene era to the present. See
prehistoric creatures, find a treasure trove of Spanish gold and
silver, and explore orange groves and Tin Can Tourist camps of 20th
century Florida. You'll find the story of Florida's people here, at the
Museum of Florida History!
Highlights include:
- a fully reconstructed mastodon skeleton
- gold and silver treasures from sunken Spanish galleons
- the story of Micanopy, a leader of the Seminole people
- Civil War flags, weapons and clothing
- a lifesize partial replica of a steamboat
- a citrus packing house from the 1920s and 1930s
- a Tin Can Tourist camp
Florida's First People, a major new exhibit about prehistoric
populations, is scheduled for completion in 1996. The Museum also
presents special exhibitions that change on a regular basis.

Capitol just 3 blocks east and The
Union Bank just 4 blocks east.

Friday, 10 AM to 4:30 PM Saturday, 12 PM to 4:30 PM Sunday, closed

ADMISSION: Free.
DIRECTIONS: From the intersection of 90 and
27, head south on 27. Turn right onto Pensacola St and left onto S
Bronough St. A parking garage and metered spaces are available at the
end of the street.
