
The Norton has been called the "best art museum in the State of
Florida," and is highly distinguished in the South. Displayed
thoroughout the year is their world renowned permanent collection. This
collection includes major works of art by the European Impressionists
and Modern Masters, as well as key pieces by the leaders in American
painting and sculpture.
Works by Gauguin, Picasso, Cezanne, DeChirico, Brancusi, Chagall, O'Keeffe, Bellows, Hassam, Motherwell, Hopper, Monet, Van Cleve, Homer, Shahn, Pollock, Hanson, Davis, Degas, Miro, Renoir, and Warhol are all represented in the collection. The Norton's Chinese collection is one of the most important in the United States with its particular strengths in archaic bronzes, jades, ceramics and a collection of monumental Buddhist sculpture.
In addition the special exhibition schedule and permanent collection, the Museum offers an abundance of programs for adults, children and families. "Sundays at the Norton", a program developed by the Museum's education department, includes family programs, musical, dance and theatrical performances, as well as lectures, special tours and demonstrations. Programs include artist lectures, Jazz on the Lawn, Family Days and much more.
HOURS: 10 AM to 5 PM Tuesday through Saturday, 1 PM to 5 PM Sunday, closed Mondays and major holidays. Extended hours January 20 - March 23: Monday 10 AM to 5 PM, Wednesday evening 5:30 - 8:00.
