with 4 chimneys. Build in an era when heart pine was plentiful, the
hand-planed wood floors, walls and ceilings still remain. Some are now
painted and stencilled while others retain their natural warm glow.
Antiques and reproductions are used thoughout the interior to create a
formal country decor. A small library and cozy parlor invite you to
relax and enjoy your leisure. Guest bedrooms feature comfortable four
poster beds and working fireplaces. A generous continental breakfast is
served on china and silver each morning in the lovely dining room.
Old fashioned charm best describes the beautiful grounds that encircles the house. An extensive herb garden, heirloom flowers and shrubs surround you with fragrance and color. Songbirds and butterflies in abundance add to the simple country pleasures of this tranquil setting.
Thomson, the Camellia City of the South, has special appeal for the horse enthusiast. The spectacular "Blessing of the Hounds" ceremony officially opens the fox hunt season in early November. Hunts take place each week though March. Combined training events are held in spring and fall at Pine Top Farm, a training site for Olympic equestrian teams. State parks, golf courses, antique shops and restaurants are nearby. Augusta, home of the Masters Golf Tournament, is an easy half hour drive away.
