Acadian Whale Watcher

Bar Harbor, Maine
Come with us on a great adventure!

Acadian Whale Watcher has observed more Right Whales, Humpbacks, Finbacks, and Dolphins than any vessel in Bar Harbor. We view the whales at home in their natural environment. They come here to feed and raise their young as they have for centuries. Since they are not in a contained area, some days are better than others for finding and watching them. Our boat is the only local Whale Watch vessel, to our knowlege, with side-scan sonar to increase the likelihood of finding whales. Guaranteed sightings! If whales are not sighted, we offer a non-expiring pass for another trip.

Our naturalists provide expert commentary as they point out whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals and the sharks swimming beneath the large variety of sea birds. Our captain is a skilled professional with many years service on ocean going vessels. Together with his friendly and experienced crew, they will make your 4-hour round trip to the feeding grounds of these gentle leviathans an unforgettable sea adventure.

The new Acadian Whale Watcher was specifically designed and built for whale watching. The boat, 94 feet long and 24 feet wide, has comfortable seating for 149 passengers (wheelchairs are welcome) and provides more room per passenger than any of Bar Harbor's Whale Watch Boats. The spacious, heated cabin seats 90 people with a full service galley/bar, tables and clean modern restrooms. We have warm blankets on board for passengers who prefer outdoor upper deck seating. The deep V hull is extremely stable to reduce motion-related passenger discomfort. The 1750 HP engines can cruise at 25 knots on the open ocean, making her one of the fastest Whale Watcher boats in Maine. It is equipped with the latest in marine electronics, and, of course, Coast Guard certified for your safety. We are a zero-tolerance, drug-free vessel.

Caution. This vessel operates in the open ocean and may be prone to motion unfamiliar to you. If you are under doctor's medication, don't have your equilibrium, are prone to sea sickness or have a heart condition, we do not recommend that you take this trip.

Please dress as casually as you like. Sweaters, jackets, hats and perhaps a rain poncho may be needed as the ocean air tends to be cooler than the land temperature. Don't forget to bring binoculars and camera to capture these breathtaking sights. Binoculars are available for rent.

Don't Be Misled. Not all whale watch cruises are alike. Ask around locally and find out why Acadian Whale Watcher is the most recommended Whale Watcher in the last ten years!
