This scenic mile-long footpath between Ogunquit and Perkins Cove is
much loved by painters. Stone benches on top of granite cliffs
overlooking crashing ocean surf are ideal spots to stop and savor the
sights and sounds.
Vaughan Woods Memorial

A network of trails wind through 250 acres of pine, hemlock, beech,
maple, oak and birch above the banks of the Salmon Falls River. Here,
in 1634, English carpenters and millwrights built the state's first saw
mill. Parking and picnic areas are available.

This 200 acre wooded neck of land between the Harraseeket River and
Casco Bay has a 4 mile network of trails. The Casco Bay Trail passes
Googins Island, a nearby offshore islet and location of a tall white
pine containing an osprey's nest. Parking and picnic areas are
available.
Scarborough Marsh Sanctuary

Rent a canoe and explore the 3,100 acres of marsh and river. A detailed
map helps you spot exceptional plant, bird and animal life. Daily
9:30-5:30.
Laudholm Farm

This 19th century saltwater farm is now a 250-acre preserve. 7 miles of
trails wander through salt marsh, woodlands anc coastal dunes. In the
restored farm house, view an introductory slide show and exhibits on
natural history, obtain trail maps, and browse nature books in the gift
shop. The Children's Discovery Program loans families a backpack
stocked with binoculars, compass, field guides and an illustrated
program book for use on a self-guided tour.
Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge

A self-guided mile-long wooded pathway and boardwalk winds alongside
the upland edge of a picturesque salt marsh, home to migratory
waterfowl, shorebirds, gulls, terns, wading birds and various
songbirds. Limited parking and maps are available at trailhead.
Gilsland Farm

Two miles of self-guiding trails wind through the Maine Audobon Society
sanctuary located on the Presumpscot River estuary near Portland. A
variety of habitats - apple orchard, salt marshes, open fields, pond,
mudflats and woodlands - makes for ideal bird watching.
