transit vehicles. Listen to the whistles, the bells and the "All
Aboard!" of friendly conductors. Feel the wind in your face as you ride
an open trolley. Marvel at the beauty and craftmanship of our early
20th Century trolley and transit vehicles.
The Seashore Trolley Museum is the principal activity of the
New England Electric Railway Historical Society, a non-profit
educational foundation. The museum was founded in 1939 as the Seashore
Electric Railway to save Biddeford and Saco open trolley #31 from
destruction. Fifty eight years and many cars later we have grown into
the OLDEST and LARGEST electric railway museum in the world! Our
"Worldwide" collection includes
- 'Golden Chariot' (Montreal)
- 'A Streetcar Named Desire' (New Orleans)
- The beautiful 'Liberty Bell Limited'
and many others from Berlin, Boston, Budapest, Chicago, Dallas,
Glasgow, Nagasaki, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Sydney,
Rome and other cities from around the world.
- Take a narrated walking tour of the museum with one of our
conductors.
- Ride a variety of trolleys.
- Watch skilled craftspeople restore old trolley cars to
mint condition.
- Learn to operate a trolley in our "Be A Motorman" program.

in our picnic grove.
